"Beautiful place; however, getting around if you don’t rent a car or scooter is very difficult. Taxis are expensive and pick and choose their customers so wait times can be long or worse, you cannot get one at all. Ferries are nice but often late and reliant on weather so ferries with connections are a crapshoot, and buses are jam packed often leaving you to wait for several to pass by before being able to board. If you want to reduce the number of cars on the road, you need to improve the public transportation or allow Uber there to give taxis some competition to urge them to provide better service. $60 Euros for 2 of us to go 2 km when the people going 4km in the same car paid $50 really put a bad taste in our mouths and made a return trip to Italy (anywhere in Italy) much lower on our list, despite what was a beautiful place to stay - if only you never left the Airbnb.
